V3 has finished the woody removal from the Churchill Club Basin on the west side of Douglas this past Thursday 9/1/16. During both the 8/23 event and the 9/1 event, they cut down small weedy trees and samplings, removed the woody cut vegetation for chipping, and chipped (for offsite disposal). The cut stumps were all treated with herbicide on the same day as cutting, to prevent regrowth. Most of the targeted woody growth consisted of Siberian elm and Bradford pear resprouts. Slopes should be in good condition for winter burning and seeding. An update in October will follow with the status of the burn and seeding.
